On April 12, the news reported that NVIDIA released the GeForce Game Ready 552.12 WHQL driver update last week. Subsequently, multiple users reported issues with this driver, such as game stuttering, incomplete support for RTX HDR, and even a black screen.

In response to the issues reported by users, NVIDIA officially provided some official answers. They mentioned: If your system uses Intel’s 13th / 14th generation -K series desktop CPUs and encounters stability issues / insufficient video memory/crash issues while compiling shaders in games, please visit the Intel website for assistance.

From the link provided by NVIDIA, we can see that this issue has been present at least since February of this year. Intel officially stated:

Intel has been made aware that reports indicate Core 13th and 14th generation unlocked multiplier desktop processors are encountering issues under certain workloads. We are collaborating with partners to analyze the reported issues.

If you are experiencing these issues, please contact Intel customer support for further assistance during this time.

NVIDIA also stated that the issue of random white/black checkerboard artifacts appearing in Chromium-based applications (such as Chrome browser, Edge, and Discord) will be fixed in a future Windows update.

The editor noted that on Tuesday, Chrome users reported similar issues starting from version 115, while Microsoft officially stated that the root cause is a bug in Windows, currently only present in the Windows Preview version. Microsoft will undertake repairs subsequently; a temporary solution is to use the command line “–disable_direct_composition_video_overlays=1” to run or close the browser.
