Today, we will compare the gaming performance between the ARC B580 and the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB. Objectively speaking, it is unrealistic to expect the ARC B580 to outperform the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB. The real question worth exploring is: how significant is the performance gap between the two? Is it small, fairly large, or very large? This article will provide the answer.

The ARC B580 was released on December 3, 2024, featuring the BGM-G21 GPU, a 6nm process by TSMC, with 5 render slices, 20 Xe cores, 20 ray tracing units, and 160 XMX AI engines.

Its base frequency is 2670 MHz, with a boost frequency of up to 2850 MHz. It has a 192-bit memory interface, 12GB of GDDR6 memory, 456 GB/s bandwidth, and a total board power (TBP) of 190W. The suggested retail price is $249.

The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB was released on May 18, 2023, with the AD106 GPU based on the Ada Lovelace architecture, a 5nm process by TSMC. It has 4352 CUDA cores, 128 texture units, 48 raster units, 34 multiprocessor units, 128 tensor cores, 34 ray tracing units, and 32MB of L2 cache.

Its base frequency is 2310 MHz, with a boost frequency of up to 2535 MHz. It comes with 8GB of GDDR6 memory, an 18 Gbps memory speed, a 128-bit memory interface, 288.0 GB/s bandwidth, and FP32 performance of 22.06 TFLOPS. Its power consumption is 160W, with a suggested retail price of $399.

The following tests were conducted on seven games, all at 1080P with maximum settings. In the images below, the left side represents the ARC B580 platform, while the right side represents the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti platform.

The first game is “Ghostwire: Tokyo”.

  • ARC B580 platform: Average frame rate 80 FPS, minimum frame rate 72 FPS, frame time 12.6ms, CPU usage 13%, power consumption 41W, temperature 44°C, memory usage 10.6GB, GPU usage 99%, VRAM usage 5.6GB, power consumption 104W, temperature 58°C.
  • GeForce RTX 4060 Ti platform: Average frame rate 83 FPS, minimum frame rate 75 FPS, frame time 12.2ms, CPU usage 13%, power consumption 42W, temperature 43°C, memory usage 10.3GB, GPU usage 99%, VRAM usage 5.2GB, power consumption 137W, temperature 59°C.

In this game, both platforms have equal CPU usage, with the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti platform using 0.3GB less memory. GPU usage is at 99% on both, while VRAM usage is 0.4GB lower on the 4060 Ti.

In terms of average frame rate, the 4060 Ti platform is 3 FPS ahead of the ARC B580, with the minimum frame rate also 3 FPS higher. Frame times are nearly identical, with a slight advantage for the 4060 Ti. However, its power consumption is 33W higher, with similar temperatures.

The second game is “Cyberpunk 2077”.

In this game, both platforms have similar CPU usage, with the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti platform using 0.2GB more memory. GPU usage is almost identical, with VRAM usage 0.2GB lower on the 4060 Ti.

In terms of average frame rate, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti platform is 10 FPS ahead, with a 2 FPS advantage in minimum frame rate. The frame time is 4ms shorter, providing a noticeable advantage. Power consumption is 32W higher, with the 4060 Ti platform running 3°C hotter.

The third game is “God of War”.

The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti platform leads by 28 FPS in average frame rate, with a 22 FPS lead in minimum frame rate. Frame time is 4ms shorter, giving it a clear advantage. Power consumption is 34W higher, and temperatures are 3°C higher.

The fourth game is “Silent Hill 2”.

The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti platform leads by 25 FPS in average frame rate, with a 15 FPS lead in minimum frame rate. Frame time is 8ms shorter, offering a significant advantage. Power consumption is 19W higher, and temperatures are 2°C higher.

The fifth game is “Black Myth: Wukong”.

The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti platform leads by 20 FPS in average frame rate, with a 12 FPS lead in minimum frame rate. Frame time is 5ms shorter, providing a notable advantage. Power consumption is 11W higher, with temperatures being similar.

The sixth game is “Horizon Forbidden West”.

In this game, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti platform has 11% higher CPU usage. Memory usage is 0.2GB lower, while GPU usage remains almost identical. The 4060 Ti platform uses 0.4GB less VRAM.

The GeForce RTX 4060 Ti platform leads by 22 FPS in average frame rate, with a 16 FPS lead in minimum frame rate. Frame time is 6ms shorter, offering a significant advantage. Power consumption is 31W higher, and temperatures are 3°C higher.

The comparison results are quite clear. Although the ARC B580 has a wider memory bus and larger VRAM capacity, its overall performance is still “significantly” lower than that of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti. The younger sibling remains the younger sibling. However, the ARC B580 has a considerable advantage in power consumption.

The final conclusion is: The performance gap between the ARC B580 and the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is not “small” or “huge,” but rather “fairly large.” This is an objective and fair conclusion.

In this case, which one is more worth purchasing between the ARC B580 and the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB largely depends on price and budget. For users prioritizing cost-effectiveness, I personally still recommend opting for the ARC B580.
