The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti was released on December 1, 2020. It uses the GA104 GPU based on the Ampere architecture, manufactured with Samsung’s 8nm process. It features 4864 CUDA cores, 152 texture units, 80 raster units, 38 ray tracing cores, 38 SM units, 152 tensor cores, and 4MB of L2 cache.

The GeForce RTX 5070 was released on January 6, 2025. It uses the GB205 GPU chip, manufactured with TSMC’s 5nm process. It features 6144 CUDA cores, 192 texture units, 48 SM units, 192 tensor cores, and 48 ray tracing cores.

It has 40MB of L2 cache, a base clock of 2165 MHz, and a boost clock of 2510 MHz. It comes with 12GB of GDDR7 memory, a 192-bit memory bus width, memory speed of 28 Gbps, and a memory bandwidth of 672GB/s. Its FP32 floating-point performance is 30.84 TFLOPS, power consumption is 250W, and the reference price is $549.

Test Conclusion

Overall, compared to the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, the GeForce RTX 5070 offers a significant comprehensive advantage. It allows more processor performance to be utilized, and its larger video memory capacity is also a clear benefit, placing it in a clearly superior position.

Based on the data above, the overall performance of the GeForce RTX 5070 is approximately 1.5 times that of the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, meaning it leads by about 50%—a substantial margin.

Even so, as an upgrade option, the GeForce RTX 5070 still feels somewhat underwhelming. If you’re currently using a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and considering a graphics card upgrade, you should at least aim for a model with a higher performance tier (such as the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti or above).
