  • Memory: Onboard 32GB LPDDR5X
  • Graphics: Integrated Radeon 890M
  • Storage: 2TB M.2 SSD
  • Operating System: Windows 11

Radeon 890M Game Tests

The following seven games were tested at 1080P high-quality settings.

① God of War

Average FPS: 78, Minimum Instant FPS: 70, Frame Time: 16.7ms, CPU Usage: 21%, Power Consumption: 32W, Temperature: 54°C, Memory Usage: 11.6GB, GPU Usage: 99%, VRAM Usage: 4.5GB, VRAM Temperature: 52°C.

In this game, CPU usage is around 20%, memory usage is just under 12GB, GPU is fully utilized with VRAM usage between 4GB to 5GB. Both average and minimum FPS stay above 70 FPS with frame times under 17ms, showing stable performance across the board.

② Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Average FPS: 54, Minimum Instant FPS: 46, Frame Time: 20.1ms, CPU Usage: 25%, Power Consumption: 30W, Temperature: 55°C, Memory Usage: 11.1GB, GPU Usage: 99%, VRAM Usage: 4.1GB, VRAM Temperature: 53°C.

In this game, CPU usage reaches 25%, slightly higher than the previous game, with memory usage around 11GB. GPU remains fully loaded with VRAM usage around 4GB. Average FPS exceeds 50 with minimum instant FPS around 45, but frame times are slightly higher at around 20ms.

③ Cyberpunk 2077

Average FPS: 47, Minimum Instant FPS: 40, Frame Time: 22.1ms, CPU Usage: 27%, Power Consumption: 32W, Temperature: 55°C, Memory Usage: 11.3GB, GPU Usage: 98%, VRAM Usage: 4.2GB, VRAM Temperature: 53°C.

In this game, CPU usage rises to 27%, memory usage is slightly above 11GB, and GPU remains fully loaded with VRAM usage just above 4GB. Average FPS is above 45 with minimum instant FPS around 40, but frame times are higher at around 22ms, indicating some strain on the GPU during gameplay.

④ Forza Horizon 5

Average FPS: 63, Minimum Instant FPS: 56, Frame Time: 19.6ms, CPU Usage: 21%, Power Consumption: 32W, Temperature: 54°C, Memory Usage: 11.7GB, GPU Usage: 99%, VRAM Usage: 4.9GB, VRAM Temperature: 52°C.

In this game, CPU usage is around 20%, similar to the first game. Memory usage approaches 12GB, and the GPU operates at full load with VRAM usage close to 5GB.

Achieving over 60 FPS on average with minimum instant FPS above 50 and frame times around 20ms, the overall performance is solid without major issues.

⑤ Horizon Forbidden West

Average FPS: 45, Minimum Instant FPS: 38, Frame Time: 27.6ms, CPU Usage: 28%, Power Consumption: 31W, Temperature: 54°C, Memory Usage: 11.4GB, GPU Usage: 99%, VRAM Usage: 4.3GB, VRAM Temperature: 52°C.

In this game, CPU usage reaches 28%, memory usage is slightly above 11GB, and GPU remains fully loaded with VRAM usage just above 4GB.

Achieving over 40 FPS on average with minimum instant FPS around 30, but with frame times reaching around 27ms, indicates noticeable latency issues, which are a significant drawback.

⑥ Hogwarts Legacy

Average FPS: 48, Minimum Instant FPS: 41, Frame Time: 23.2ms, CPU Usage: 27%, Power Consumption: 30W, Temperature: 55°C, Memory Usage: 13.9GB, GPU Usage: 98%, VRAM Usage: 4.4GB, VRAM Temperature: 53°C.

In this game, CPU usage is at 27%, memory usage approaches 14GB (note: this game is memory-intensive, often exceeding 20GB on desktops), and GPU is almost fully utilized with VRAM usage just above 4GB.

Achieving around 50 FPS on average with minimum instant FPS around 40, but with frame times around 23ms, indicates noticeable latency issues, particularly in demanding scenes.

⑦ The Last of Us Part I

Average FPS: 28, Minimum Instant FPS: 20, Frame Time: 40.9ms, CPU Usage: 20%, Power Consumption: 32W, Temperature: 55°C, Memory Usage: 14.3GB, GPU Usage: 98%, VRAM Usage: 5.1GB, VRAM Temperature: 54°C.

In this game, CPU usage is only 20%, memory usage exceeds 14GB, and GPU is nearly fully loaded with VRAM usage just above 5GB.

Achieving around 28 FPS on average with minimum instant FPS around 20, but with frame times exceeding 40ms, indicates significant performance issues. The Radeon 890M struggles to maintain smooth gameplay in this scenario.

Test Conclusion

Overall, the performance of the Radeon 890M is commendable, capable of smoothly running most mainstream games. However, it struggles with a few heavyweight games.

Objectively, the Radeon 890M offers strong performance that should satisfy most casual gamers. It’s worth considering, though it’s not without its performance limitations.

Many digital hardware enthusiasts may feel intrigued and are eager to compare the gaming performance of the Radeon 890M with GPUs like the GeForce GTX 1650, GeForce RTX 3050, GeForce RTX 3060, and even GeForce RTX 4060. Stay tuned for more detailed comparisons in future articles.

Potential buyers interested in the Radeon 890M include both laptop and desktop users. Some hope AMD will introduce a desktop APU series similar to the Ryzen 8000 series, featuring the Radeon 890M (or 880M, 870M, etc.). While this possibility seems likely, AMD’s short-term plans remain uncertain, with no official announcements yet. Users will need to wait patiently for updates.
