To troubleshoot a motherboard, start by disconnecting everything except the CPU, CPU cooler, RAM, GPU, keyboard, and power supply. Remove other components like hard drives, mouse, network cables, and case connectors.

Check for a debug LED on the motherboard and refer to the manual if available. If there’s no LED or it shows normal status, move to the next step.

Ensure the monitor is powered on and the video cable is securely connected. If the monitor has multiple video inputs, verify that the correct source is selected in the monitor’s menu.

Check the video connection:

  1. If the CPU has integrated graphics, the system might default to it, but the cable should be connected to the dedicated GPU.
  2. If the CPU lacks integrated graphics, ensure the GPU is installed; otherwise, the cable will be connected to the motherboard without output.
  3. Sometimes, sellers test motherboards with a GPU before shipping, changing the default output, which can lead to confusion.

Next, try clearing the BIOS settings. For some AMD Ryzen CPUs, you may need to remove the CPU for a brief period before clearing the BIOS again. If possible, consider updating the BIOS.

Lastly, reseat the RAM.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, you’ll need to use a process of elimination by swapping in known-good components until the faulty part is identified. If that’s not feasible, consider seeking professional on-site service.
