Nvidia founder Jensen Huang hosted a dinner for the supply chain, proclaiming that we are entering a new era of AI, with massive opportunities for the next generation of servers. He highly praised the partners for producing the most valuable products in the world and promised to continue investing in Taiwan.
Attendees included Foxconn’s Young Liu, Pegatron’s Tung Tzu-Hsien, Quanta Chairman Barry Lam, ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih, Chunghwa Telecom Chairman Kuo Shui-Yi, Wistron Chairman Simon Lin, Inventec CEO Maurice Wu, Delta Electronics Chairman Yancey Hai, and Compal Chairman Rock Hsu, among others.
It is understood that Huang hosted a banquet with seven tables for his friends, including dishes like cod with soybean paste at 620 TWD, shrimp scrambled eggs at 320 TWD, crispy fried tofu at 280 TWD, taro rice noodle soup at 880 TWD, braised pork with bamboo shoots at 360 TWD, fried oysters at 300 TWD, cabbage with soybean paste at 300 TWD, spicy stinky tofu at 260 TWD, white-cut chicken at 580 TWD, clam and squash at 280 TWD, each table with a bottle of Yuchuan Shaoxing wine at 200 TWD, and various beverages. Each table had ten bowls of white rice totaling 150 TWD, with a subtotal per table of approximately 4,230 TWD, plus a 10% service charge, totaling around 4,653 TWD per table (in New Taiwan dollars).
When asked by the media whether to invest in sovereign AI, Huang bluntly stated that every country should invest in its own AI, as the country’s data is like natural resources, belonging to the nation. Every country should leverage this data to transform it into AI.
At the beginning of the dinner, Huang stood on a chair to make a speech.
He pointed out that we are entering a new era of AI, and the products they produce are the most valuable in the world. Without their products, the AI world would not exist. This is an exciting time.
We have a lot of work and effort ahead. We have been working together for 30 years, and we will continue for the next decade.
Taiwan is the center of AI technology. Gathering with friends and preparing for this new era, technological expansion will benefit Taiwan as it holds a central position.
When asked if he would continue to invest in Taiwan, Huang said that Taiwan is one of his most important partners. Nvidia’s business started in Taiwan, building wafers and systems here, with many business partners.
Huang’s visit to Taiwan is expected to become one of the highlights of the Taipei International Computer Exhibition (COMPUTEX) next week.
