[Industry Background]
The Thin Client is a highly targeted machine device that centrally processes data. It finds extensive applications in various sectors such as transportation, finance, real estate, enterprise ERP system management, OA systems, tourism, telecommunications, government, education, commerce, media, and more. It has gained significant recognition among users in large and medium-sized enterprises, who leverage the Thin Client to enhance efficiency and drive business growth. With continuous technological advancements, it is now widely utilized in television set-top boxes, hotels, specialized educational computers, and other domains. Consequently, there is an increased demand for enhanced security and stability of the device itself. The hard disk serves as the core component for data storage, and its stability directly affects the proper functioning of the device and the security of the data. Therefore, selecting a high-performance storage hard disk is of utmost importance.
[Customer Introduction]
DiskMFR has established a partnership with a large publicly traded conglomerate. To enhance operational efficiency and streamline the management of employees’ office needs, the conglomerate utilizes Thin Clients of certain brands to manage internal business systems, enterprise administration, and office systems, thereby strengthening overall management capabilities. As the company continues to expand its scale, the demands for the management system have grown increasingly stringent. The Thin Clients encountered issues with insufficient memory in handling large volumes of data. In September 2021, the project manager of the conglomerate reached out to DiskMFR’s representative through the official DiskMFR website. After two months of negotiations, on-site assessments, and discussions, a contract was signed in mid-October 2021 for the replacement of the Thin Clients’ flash memory.
[Customer Demand]
During the negotiations with the project manager of the conglomerate, DiskMFR identified the following key requirements:
- Upgrading the management system of the conglomerate necessitates improved hard disk performance.
- Insufficient system capacity of the Thin Clients (Technical Analysis Of Thin Clients – Light And Flexible Data Sets).
- Prolonged high-temperature operations led to the elevated body temperature of the Thin Clients and increased disk temperature, resulting in performance slowdowns during operations.
[Solution]
In response to the customer’s requirements, the Product Development and Engineering departments of DiskMFR immediately held an internal meeting and formed a project team. After analyzing the performance characteristics of the Thin Clients and considering the actual usage scenario of the conglomerate, DiskMFR proposed the DiskMFR Wide-Temperature 44PIN IDE DOM electronic disk storage solution. This solution is specifically designed for harsh operational environments involving prolonged high-load and high-temperature operations. It features highly efficient and stable fast memory storage media components, making it one of the most outstanding memory storage solutions in terms of performance-to-cost ratio.
The IDE DOM electronic disk adopts a 44PIN IDE (PATA) interface, which is compatible with the interface type of the Thin Clients’ flash disk. The housing is constructed with CNC metal aluminum alloy, ensuring resistance to external physical factors such as compression, vibration, drops, and impact. It also offers dustproof and high-temperature resistance capabilities. Developed specifically for industrial-grade and wide-temperature-grade devices, the IDE DOM electronic disk has a compact appearance and can be flexibly used in various embedded devices. Apart from Thin Clients, this solution is also suitable for embedded systems, POS systems, GPS devices, NAS, set-top boxes/VPNs, WBT, web servers, and other equipment.
[Performance Characteristics]
- Resistant to shock, dust, and corrosion, with a compact form factor.
- Protection against signal interference and electrostatic discharge.
- Supports 5V voltage power supply.
- Data write protection feature.
- Automatic error correction and rewriting functionality.
- Advanced fault handling system to ensure maximum data security.
- Powered directly through the IDE interface, eliminating the need for separate power cables.
- No rotating medium like traditional HDDs, making it more suitable for industrial-grade products.
- Operating temperature ranges:
- Enterprise-grade: 0°C to +70°C
- Industrial-grade: -20°C to +75°C
- Wide-temperature-grade: -45°C to +85°C
- Extended wide-temperature-grade: -55°C to +105°C
[Advantages of the Plan]
① Large storage space, faster and more stable data read and write performance
The DiskMFR IDE DOM electronic disk utilizes a 44PIN IDE interface and is compatible with various operating systems such as Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 2003, Windows 2008, DOS, Linux, Unix, and more. In terms of capacity, it offers options of 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB, providing expanded storage choices for Thin Clients. Regarding read and write performance, the DiskMFR IDE DOM electronic disk employs a 2CH channel transmission rate, achieving a maximum read speed of up to 110MB/s and a write speed of up to 70MB/s. This enables efficient transmission of information for servers handling centralized data, significantly enhancing work efficiency and meeting the usage requirements of most customers.
② Professional selection of electronic components for more stable performance and safer reading and writing.
All DiskMFR IDE DOM electronic disks utilize components specifically designed for wide-temperature-grade SSD (Solid State Drive). These components, including ultra-high-temperature-resistant capacitors and resistors, undergo meticulous selection and quality control processes to ensure compliance with professional production standards for wide-temperature-grade SSDs. These standards encompass high/low-temperature resistance, stable performance, and shock resistance. The IDE DOM electronic disks employ dedicated wide-temperature-grade SSD controllers and flash memory chips to ensure the safety and reliability of the SSDs. The main control chips and flash memory chips used in DiskMFR wide-temperature-grade SSDs are sourced from international suppliers, guaranteeing stable performance, safety, and reliability.
