SK Hynix CEO Kwon Oh-joon stated that while he cannot disclose specific customer names, the shipping and supply timeline for the 12-layer HBM3E is proceeding as planned.
As the president of the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association, Kwon noted that the launch of Nvidia’s latest Blackwell series products has delayed mass production and shipping timelines by about a month.
SK Hynix is unaffected and is progressing with the development of the fifth-generation HBM3E 12-layer products as scheduled.
Regarding the semiconductor market outlook for next year, Kwon believes that personal computers and mobile devices are experiencing some stagnation in growth.
He anticipates strong performance for storage products in the AI sector next year but emphasizes the need to observe conditions in other regions. He feels that due to AI, the situation will improve next year.
Next-generation products like Compute Express Link (CXL) are expected to be released next year.
Kwon revealed that they are launching products that meet customer needs, with specific results to be announced next year.
On concerns about oversupply due to Chinese memory manufacturers increasing production, Kwon mentioned that there are various opinions in the market, and SK Hynix does not have much information yet and needs to understand the situation better.
The head of Samsung Electronics’ System LSI division also attended the event but only commented that they are monitoring the performance for the second half of the year and the yield issues with Exynos 2500, stating, “We are paying attention and will do our best.”
