I. Introduction
Based on previous GPU performance comparison tests shared by the editor, a conclusion can be drawn: the gaming performance of the Radeon 890M is roughly on par with the GeForce RTX 3050 mobile version. Although there are some victories for each, overall, their performance is similar.
Today, we will increase the difficulty by pitting the lower-tier Radeon 880M against the GeForce RTX 3050 desktop version, to evaluate how significant the performance difference is between the two. This will be useful for those interested.
II. Parameter Comparison
The Radeon 880M is based on the RDNA 3.5 architecture, using TSMC’s 4nm process. It has 768 shaders, 48 texture units, 32 raster units, 16 compute units, 16 ray-tracing units, and a 2MB L2 cache. The standard operating frequency is 400 MHz, with a maximum frequency of 2900 MHz.
The GeForce RTX 3050, released on January 4, 2022, uses the GA106 GPU based on the Ada Lovelace architecture, with TSMC’s 5nm process. It features 2560 CUDA cores, 80 texture units, 32 raster units, 20 multiprocessor units, 80 tensor cores, 20 ray-tracing units, and a 2MB L2 cache.
Its standard operating frequency is 1552 MHz, with a maximum frequency of 1777 MHz. It is equipped with 8GB of GDDR6 memory, with a memory speed of 17 Gbps, a memory bus width of 128 bits, and a memory bandwidth of 224.0GB/s. Its FP32 performance is 9.098 TFLOPS, power consumption is 130W, and the suggested retail price is $249.

The Radeon 880M platform is based on a mini-PC from a certain brand, with a Ryzen AI 9 365 processor. The GeForce RTX 3050 platform is a desktop system, with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, an MSI MPG X670E CARBON motherboard, 32GB of DDR5 6000MHz RAM, an 8GB GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card, two 1TB Samsung 970 EVO SSDs, and the Windows 11 operating system.
IV. Game Testing (Radeon 880M vs RTX 3050 Desktop)
The following tests were conducted on seven games, all in 1080P graphics mode. In the series of images below, the left side represents the Radeon 880M platform, and the right side represents the GeForce RTX 3050 platform.

In this game, both platforms have equal CPU usage. The GeForce RTX 3050 platform uses 2.4GB less memory, has 2% higher GPU usage, and equal VRAM usage.
In terms of average frame rate, the GeForce RTX 3050 platform is 32 FPS higher than the Radeon 880M platform, with a minimum instant frame rate 33 FPS higher, and the frame time is approximately 11ms lower, showing a significant performance advantage with nearly double the performance.

In terms of average frame rate, the GeForce RTX 3050 platform is 24 FPS higher than the Radeon 880M platform, with a minimum instant frame rate 19 FPS higher, and the frame time is about 10ms lower, showing a significant performance lead.

V. Conclusion
Overall, the performance of the GeForce RTX 3050 desktop version is significantly stronger than the Radeon 880M, at least two or three tiers higher. The two are not in the same league — one could say the Radeon 880M is “completely dominated” throughout.
Nonetheless, the performance of the Radeon 880M is still commendable. It can run most games smoothly, with its main drawback being higher frame time delays in a few demanding titles.
