Preface

In previous articles, we’ve already shared gaming performance comparisons between the GeForce RTX 5050 and the GeForce RTX 4060 and 3060. Today, we’re presenting the most hardcore and crucial head-to-head: this time, against the higher-tier GeForce RTX 5060.

Compared to the GeForce RTX 5060, the RTX 5050 has one-third fewer CUDA cores and its video memory has been downgraded from GDDR7 to GDDR6. Under such conditions, many users are eager to know just how big the actual performance gap is between these two GPUs. This article will reveal the answer through gaming tests.

Specification Comparison

The GeForce RTX 5050 was released on June 24, 2025. It uses the GB207 GPU, based on the Blackwell architecture, built on TSMC’s 4nm process. It features 2,560 CUDA cores, 80 texture units, 32 raster units, 20 SMs, 80 tensor cores, 20 ray tracing cores, and 32MB of L2 cache.

Its base clock is 2,235 MHz, boost clock is 2,520 MHz, and it’s equipped with 8GB of GDDR6 memory running at 20 Gbps. The memory bus width is 128-bit with a bandwidth of 320 GB/s. FP32 performance is 12.90 TFLOPS, power consumption is 130W, and the suggested retail price is $249.

The GeForce RTX 5060 was released on May 19, 2025. It uses the GB206 GPU, also based on the Blackwell architecture and manufactured with TSMC’s 4nm process. It features 3,840 CUDA cores, 120 texture units, 48 raster units, 30 SMs, 120 tensor cores, 30 ray tracing cores, and 32MB of L2 cache.

Its base clock is 2,280 MHz, boost clock is 2,497 MHz, and it’s equipped with 8GB of GDDR7 memory running at 28 Gbps. The memory bus width is 128-bit with a bandwidth of 448.0 GB/s. FP32 performance is 19.18 TFLOPS, power consumption is 145W, and the suggested retail price is $299.

  • Result: RTX 5060 leads by 17 FPS (approx. +31%), better frame time by 4.3ms

Conclusion

Based on the tests above, the GeForce RTX 5060 shows a clear performance advantage. Overall, the RTX 5060 outperforms the RTX 5050 by about 38%.

Even factoring in potential variances, at best, the RTX 5050 delivers around 70% of the RTX 5060’s performance—a substantial gap—despite the price difference being only 17%.

In this context, the RTX 5060 is clearly the better choice unless the RTX 5050 sees a significant price drop in the future that makes it exceptionally cost-effective.
